Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special contestant Alexandra Mardell has some very surprising showbiz connections.

Alexandra Mardell, 29, is known for her role as Emma Brooker in Coronation Street, with the actress now taking her turn dancing for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special. The actress, however, is not shy about spending time with the rich and famous as she shares a connection with the Spice Girls.

Alexandra has a close family connection with Spice Girls star Melanie Brown.
The Corrie star's mother is good friends with Mel B's mother and because of this, she spent a lot of time with Scary Spice and her bandmates in her childhood.
Most recently, Alexandra shared a picture of herself with some of the Spice Girls during their reunion tour in 2019.
Alexandra shared a behind-the-scenes look into the event, with her sharing snaps with her family and Spice Girls Emma Bunton and Mel B.

She captioned the series of Instagram snaps: "Loved every second of @spicegirls. I sang every word, danced every step and got to catch up with so many gorgeous friends!
"So lovely to be able to celebrate together for @officialmelb bday! Best night ever. I will forever #wannabeaspicegirl."
For the Strictly special, Alexandra wowed in a black sheer-sleeved gown which cascaded down into a glittering tassel skirt as she posed with her dancing partner Kai Widdrington who dressed as Santa.
She donned an amazing palette of makeup including a reindeer's nose, smokey eyeshadow and white spots around her forehead.
The Corrie star completed her Strictly number by styling her long brunette tresses in two small space buns with a pair of gold antlers.
Meanwhile, Kai rocked a red suit with white fur detailing and beamed while donning a grey hairstyle with matching full beard and moustache.
The beloved BBC show will return to the Ballroom for an all-star Christmas special as six brand-new celebrity contestants take to the floor in a bid to be crowned Christmas Champion 2022.
Speaking ahead of the special, which will air on Christmas Day, she said: "It's just fun, I think there's probably quite a lot of competitive people, but not at this moment, we're just having fun, it's Christmas!

"I'll definitely get nervous because I want to perform well but I'm not like 'I have to win'."
Speaking alongside Kai, the pair revealed what it has been like training together ahead of the big day.
Alexandra said: "It's just been a real pleasure, I was very nervous on the first day but it's been fantastic."
Kai added: "Alexandra is a joy to work with, it's just so easy because when someone comes into the rehearsal room with such positivity every day, even though it's only been a brief amount of time, it's just been a real pleasure."
"We have a nice, fun, cheeky routine and hopefully have some good quality dancing as well."
This year's Strictly festive special will also see CBeebies presenter George Webster dancing with professional Amy Dowden, and Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts partnered with Giovanni Pernice.
The Strictly 2022 series finished on Saturday with Hamza Yassin and his partner Jowita Przystal lifting the Glitterball trophy following the close public vote.
The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day at 5.10pm.
